Works to the network and power systems will be conducted on Friday November 29th 2013.
Power Systems:
Due to a fault discovered early this week, works to our power systems were scheduled to resolve these issues to prevent future problems as a result of the discovered fault. Work commenced on Wednesday 27th November 2013 with an initial completion target of same day. In order to avoid unnecessary downtime, works were extended to Thursday 28th.
A further extension to the power maintenance schedule has been made with an estimated completion time of the evening on Friday 29th November 2013. This may be extended to as late as Sunday 1st December. No further extensions to the scheduled maintenance is expected.
Power will be continuously supplied to our core infrastructure at all times during the maintenance cycle with any downtime expected to be only a few minutes at a time. No downtime is expected today (Thursday 28th Nov) as a result of the extension.
Network:
Upgrades to the network will commence 29th 2013. Upgrades involve increasing inter-rack capacity as well as adding additional redundancy to increase fault tolerance. Network performance may be improved for some users during peak traffic periods. Data transfer rates to the central backup server should also increase significantly as result.
We expect to be able to complete any and all network upgrades with minimal or no outages. The bulk of the works will be conducted outside of office hours and may be delayed to the weekend to mitigate issues related to weekday issues.
